How Alts Insider publishes
The rules the research is published under: where its figures come from, how they are checked and dated, how each piece is reviewed, and how mistakes are corrected. The sourcing and checking rules below apply to pieces published from October 26, 2026. The corrections policy applies to every piece, including the archive. The modules follow the same rules when they open with the investor workspace.
Published under one name
Alts Insider publishes as a platform collective, under its own name. Every piece is published as Alts Insider.
What is published
- Monday Market Minute, each Monday: the week in Canadian markets, for private-market readers.
- Market Pulse, each month, by the fifth business day: the month across the economy, regulation and tax, real estate and private credit.
- The quarterly review, after each quarter ends.
- Event pieces, when something changes how part of the private market works: a turn in the direction of interest rates, a final rule that changes who can invest and how, or a large fund that stops redemptions.
- Deep dives on each asset class, reviewed at each quarterly review, and the glossary.
The archive from 2019 to mid-2026 is a retrospective series, published in 2026. Every piece shows both when it was published and the period it covers.
Where figures come from
Figures come first from the people who publish them:
- the Bank of Canada, Statistics Canada and CMHC;
- securities regulators and their tribunals;
- courts and court-appointed receivers;
- the issuers’ own notices.
Data series are taken directly from the publisher’s own data service. When a piece relies on reporting or research by others, it names them. Sources are cited in the text by name and date, for example “(BoC, Jan 9, 2019)”, and some pieces also list their sources at the end. From October 26, 2026, the sources used are free to read, so a reader can check them.
How figures are checked and dated
- Every figure carries its source and the date it describes. A dated figure describes conditions on that date.
- A figure first seen in coverage is checked against the original before it is published, and runs only once it is confirmed.
- First releases and revisions are labelled, and comparisons use figures from the same release.
- Measures built differently are kept apart. For example: an average house price and a benchmark price, or two delinquency rates with different definitions.
- Where sources disagree, the piece says so and gives both.
- Estimates, forecasts and market pricing are labelled as what they are and whose they are. For example, odds implied by market prices are described as the market’s.
- When a piece reports that something was not found, it says what was searched.
AI assistance and review
The research is produced with AI assistance and reviewed before it is published. From October 26, 2026, each new piece is also checked against two written standards, separately from its drafting:
- one for compliance, which holds each piece to education and commentary;
- one for trust, which holds it to plain, measured language.
Each new piece is approved before it is published.
Who decides what is published
Everything is written and published by Alts Insider. Firms appear in the research as news or as teaching examples. Topics, drafting, review and approval all happen within Alts Insider.
How Alts Insider is funded is stated on the about page.
Corrections
When a piece is corrected, the correction is made in the piece, a dated note on the piece says what changed, and the correction is listed in the log below. From October 26, 2026, every change to a published figure carries a dated note.
To report an error, write to info@altsinsider.ca with the subject “Correction”, naming the piece and what you think is wrong.
