Taking part as a platform partner
Alts Insider is an education platform on Canada's private capital markets, open to the investing public. Firms and advisors who work in those markets can take part as platform partners. This page sets out who that is for, the terms, and the rule for admission.
Who it is for
Advisors, dealers, managers, allocators and GPs working in Canada's private capital markets.
What platform partners get
- Introductions investors ask for. When an investor asks to be introduced, the request is offered to a platform partner whose area of focus matches the interests the investor stated.
- Attributed use of the research. While a partner, a firm may republish Alts Insider research with attribution (for example, “Research by Alts Insider”). The right ends when the partnership does.
- Suggestions and feedback. Partners may suggest topics and comment on what has been published. Alts Insider writes and publishes everything under its own name.
The fee
Platform partners pay a membership fee. Terms are set in each partner's agreement.
Admission
A firm must show from public records which investor categories it may accept under Canadian securities law. Admission is a check of those records.
Who can take part
An individual advisor may take part in their own name. A dealer or other firm may take part and allocate seats to its people.
How introductions work
Introductions open with the investor workspace.
- Introductions start when an investor asks for one.
- The request is offered to a platform partner whose area of focus matches the interests the investor stated.
- The partner first sees a summary of the request, without the investor's name or contact details. These are released only if the partner accepts.
- If it accepts, the partner holds its own discussion with the investor, decides whether to proceed, and makes its own determination of eligibility and any minimum investment.
Registrant partners
Where a platform partner is a registrant, its participation is set out in its agreement with the disclosure obligations its registration requires.
